I have been feeling like I offer too many applogies lately, but it is time to issue another one. I tried the recipe for this week. It was Lost Coconut Custart Pie. It sounds delicious right? I wouldn't know because I didn't get to eat mine. Insert frown here.
I decided to make the pie on Sunday before we went to a friend's house. I gathered up all of the ingredients, minus the agar powder because I had none. I figured maaaybe I could fudge my way through without it. When I started cooking I panicked because everything had to be continuously stirred. I am not the greatest multi-tasker or cook, so I didn't get any pictures because I was trying to keep crap from burning.
Then the poor pie was like a liquid disaster. I let it cool for a while and then stuck it in my mom's fridge. I didn't have time to wait because we had to get over to our friend's house. I didn't take pictures of this mess because it looked disgusting.
Apparently, as an added dessert bonus, the pie tipped over in my mom's fridge and sent liquid coconut custard all over the fridge. Bummer.
Sooo, I will be attempting this one again when I get some agar powder.
Take a look at Courtney and Rikki's blogs if you want to see how this deliciousness should have turned out.
P.S. I have no idea why the above passage is underlined, nor do I know how to remove it.
Aww poor lady!I think you need to watch the PPK version. I didn't have agar either that's why I based my recipe off that one (they say in the V-Con it's basically that recipe anyways).
ReplyDeleteI think you should def. try it again! Without the coconut flakes I think it would be a great naked canvas for any flavors of your own. Looking forward to 'Take: 3.5'
At least next week is a nice salad! hehe.
