Things That I Think Are Important About Me

So if you are following this blog, you might want to know who I am. I want to know who I am reading about anyway. It's pretty impossible to provide an accurate description of ones true self in a blog, but here are some things that I think are important.

1. First of all, I am a mother and wife.

These are the two most important descriptions of my being and who I am down to my very soul. I have been with my husband for 10 years and we grow as a couple every day we are together. My son will be two in March. It was a hard, long fight to get him here and I will be thankful for him every moment of every day.

2. I am the member of a wonderful family.

I am super proud to be both a Nickeson and a Ventura. I love my whole crazy family very deeply.

3. I am a Vegan

I am an animal rights person. I live my life so that I feel I am being compassionate to all living creatures. Having said that, I will never stand in judgement of a person who lives there life differently than I have chosen to live mine. I ask that same courtesy of the people that surround me.

4. I LOVE to learn

Whether it is from reading, taking a class, attending a lecture, watching my son, or talking with someone, I love to learn new things.

5. I read constantly

I read for pleasure, guidance and knowledge. I love non-fiction, but I am not above gossip mags (they are an addiction). I really enjoy almost any genre, with the exceptions of romance and western, which I have never tried.

6. I like to create

I used to think I would be a writer, but haven't written anything in years so I guess that isn't going to happen any time soon. In the mean time, I like to craft and journal.

7. I am a worrier

I worry and fret over anything and everything. I am trying to get better about worrying about things that are out of my control. I am improvig, but man, it is a long road.

8. My husband, son and I live with my dad and little sister

The economy sent us back home, but it is a great environment for a little one to grow up in.

9. I don't like wearing socks.

They are constricting and warm. Thank goodness I live in AZ so I don't have to wear them for about 10 months out of the year.

10. I am terrible with routine.

I am a pretty boing, predictable person but I am horrible at following any kind of a routine. I really hope my son is better about it than I am, but it seems doubtful as he is with me 24 hours a day.

11. Things I LOVE:

Family, my cat and dog, belly laughs, cooking, Mount Everest, lemonade, music, movies, concerts, owls, Green vegan restaraunt, Ed Begley Jr, Anderson Cooper, Kevin Spacey, going to the park, the library, Project Runway, tattoos, sweets, listening to my son learn to talk, getting grey hair and singing along to music while driving.

12. You can ask me ANYTHING.

I am not really shy about my life or my thoughts, so if you have a question...just ask.

Thats enough about me for today :)

This Seasons Crafties

I got this fabric at Goodwill for $1.49. I am using it to make his whole name.

Alligator

Horse

Giraffe

I made these little guys out of cork, yarn and hot glue. I got the templates for the alligator and giraffe from a book of children's crafts (I don't remember the name, but I can try to find it if I need too) The horse I created on my own. (ps, I don't even drink wine, but luckily I have some family members who are crazy about the stuff :) )

26 Reasons I Love You - One for each letter of the alphabet

My mom gave me this awesome old coat tocut up and create with. I love love love owls, so I made John this little one for Christmas.

A New Era For Me

I decided to create this little blog as a journal/showcase/remembrance/creative outlet. Who knows where I will go with it, but I am excited to try.
I hope to share little stories from day to day life as a stay at home mom to a small force of nature. My little guy scares me out of my mind at least once a day with some crazy antic and he isn't even two yet. On the plus side, he fills my heart with sheer joy a hundred times a day, so the terror is worth it.
I also hope to showcase my love of crafting and creating. Nothing professional, and I probably won't ever make money from it, but I am excited to make things for my kids and our family.
